“All Star” Trip Info & Procedures
The Region 8 All-Star Trip is organized and funded by the Region 8 Committee and the TR Legends Fund each summer for our top National competitors. It is our way to recognize the best of the best in our eight States, while representing Region 8 AT the National Events! The destination for the trip differs each year but has been all around the United States. This year’s trip was to Houston, TX with stops at the NASA Space Center and a workout at the USA training center. Additionally, we have been to Grand Cayman, Panama, MX, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico.
Region 8 reserves and funds the travel portion of the trip for the gymnasts, which includes flight, transportation while on the trip and hotel expenses. The rooms are quadruple occupancy and rooming is pre-assigned. Each gymnast is responsible for food, shopping and activities/excursions. Once on the trip, one full day will be dedicated to a cultural excursion. The Region will also set up and provide a training session or clinic at a local gym. All Star apparel will be provided by Region 8 for the gymnasts.
The trip will have a strict itinerary for the attending gymnasts and coaches to follow for the weekend (Thursday-Sunday).
The Region 8 All-Star Team will be comprised of:
6 - Level 9’s from Eastern Championships.
6 – Level 10’s from JO Nationals.
Level 9 Selection:
Any athlete(s) that place(s) first in the AA get(s) first priority.
If there are still spots available, the athlete(s) with the highest AA score(s) regardless of Age Group will make up the remainder of the team. In the case of an AA tie for the last spot,
the highest individual event score would break the tie.
Level 10 Selection:
Any athlete(s) that place(s) first in the AA get(s) first priority.
Any athlete(s) that place(s) second in the AA get second priority.
Any athlete(s) that place(s) third in the AA get third priority.
Any athlete(s) that place(s) fourth in the AA get fourth priority.
If there are still spots available, the athlete(s) with the highest AA score(s) regardless of Age Group will make up the remainder of the team. In the case of an AA tie for the last spot, the highest individual event score would break the tie.
Graduating Seniors are ineligible for the trip.
Athletes from clubs that are not in “good standing” in regard to training camps are ineligible for the trip.
Athletes that are under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a coach or parent. Any parents that attend will not be permitted to join the team for any meals, workouts or excursions. We will send you flight and hotel information for you to book on your own,
All Athletes are expected to abide by the USA Gymnastics Code of Ethics and the Athlete Responsibilities outlined under Athlete Membership at all times during the All-Star Trip.
